Most of you know, value investing involves some kind of method of calculation. The biggest problem is, there is no way to calculate value. If there is no way to calculate value, how to you evaluate if the company is cheap? How to you apply value investing principles?
In this video, I’ll show you how to invest now. 2020 is a crazy year. I believe this method is a safer way compared to value investing.
Depreciation is the decay within companies. Value is what people perceive it to be in the present and future based on the knowledge they have on the leader and his/her company, product, knowledge. This is the age of big data and analytics which what helps turn the companies cogs and creating that ingenious effect. Of course a true leader and innovator will know what to do with such information. Value is not how much coca cola they sell but the recipe of coca cola. Value is not a numbers game, value is uniqueness, data, leadership with integrity, drive and innovation. And nobody can put a price on that.
Best video ever!! Thanks Ken! I am starting to shy away from valuation but focusing on disruptive industry !

I don't hate you. I just think you are wrong. And that your investing approach is wrong. To discredit value investing is simply because you have given up on its method (too complicated maybe? laziness?). Everything comes in terms of value. But you are more impressed by ZM that has basically a pump and dump chart in the making. It's like when you called the stock market was entering a bullish phase a month ago. You basically just follow the illusion, not what value is or fundamentals. I prefer to build my wealth out of conservative investing instead of wishing a stock like TSLD or ZM shoots to the moon and I press sell. 95% of wealth is created out of discipline and research. A vertical line is not investing. But I understand that it's impressive (and fells like a genius move, when you are at the bottom of the line).
very nice explanation! I think you should REALLY WRITE A BOOK! HONESTLY!
Hi Chicken Genius! What do you think of AMD? Do you think it's a disruptive company?
LUCID vs TESLA ?Whereas Elon musk is using Tesla to give us more at a lower price and the goal is to then enable humanity to spread across the Stars so that the light of humanity does not go out because if it goes extinct we don't know if there's life out there we may be the only sentient life there is and what a shame it would be if the embers of our sentients were to die with an asteroid hit or Covid24. Note the CEO off lucid said they're very proud over and over again, while also claiming that they have humility, that tells you that these people are crooks, they got no Superior battery, anyone can make a car better than Tesla's if you make a few quantity and charge a ton more. But then they're only giving you a car nothing more, they're not sowing the seeds of vehicles that can drive on the moon of Jupiter. ? Lucid, is con because they have no viable product what they wanted to do with this flashy phony superficial commercial was to get people to buy their IPO at exorbitant prices so that they will have so much free money that then they could maybe developed the products that they were talking about which they really couldn't have made or they'll just take the money and run, think Nikola CEO what is he doing he's stealing everyone's money he sued Tesla for the truck design but Tesla had that truck design before Nikola existed. Lucid CEO stole designs when he work at Tesla only to leave them on a lurch as he fled at a critical survive or die moment for Tesla, and claims to have designed the model s which Elon tweeted is a lie. lucid and Nicola are evil because they are stealing money from investors that would have gone to Tesla that would have saved humanity and life on Earth. These other crooks are not going to give you the hyperloop, electric VTOL jet, cure to diseases, Elon is working on all that all he lacks is money and support from the government. The USA government is on the side of lucid and Nikola all to bring Tesla down, for they don't like the elan as he's a disrupter he's shaking down the oil companies and the electric companies and all the old guard is dying because Elons shaking them too hard ? lfv
Your comments on risk are exactly what I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to communicate to my dad's investment manager (I am the POA). They see my suggestions as too risky and I feel the exact same about their traditional value approach. Very frustrating.
Man, I respect your videos and your Tech-Disruptive-Innovation investing strategy. But I need to ask something from you: stop talking about the things you don't know, stop being the donkey when you talk about value investing. Whenever you say value investing you refer to 1920 Benjamin Graham, Book Value related investing strategy. Mate, nobody uses that much anymore in Value Investing nowadays . Even Value Investing changes and modernizes itself. You want to understand modern Value Investing that Buffet (worth 70 bil $) invented and is using? You need to read Phil Town's Rule #1 and Payback Time and many other books out there. Modern Value Investing is about growth , is about EPS growth about Free Cash Flow growth, about understanding how much a company can grow in 10 years and what would be a decent price to buy it at ,today, related to that future value. VALUE Investing, in many ways has many things in common with what you're doing. You can not pay an infinite price for a business just because is disruptive , this can make you can lose money. Look at Cisco in 2000 and where it is today. If you bought that Cisco disruptive business in 2000 you didn't break even, after 20 years.Value investing It's about understanding the business and it's core competitive advantage-moat ( it can be innovation if you want, or network, or switching or many other), then building an estimate 10y growth road-map for that company, calculate the estimate price for that business in 10 years according to your growth estimate and decide what would be a decent price to buy the company at today so you get a decent return on it. If the price is good you buy , if not , you wait for an event that brings the company close or under your buy price. Hope this will help you do your homework on Value Investing and stop being the donkey in the value room 🙂 .Cheers and keep the good stuff coming, just skip the value talk! 🙂
I used to have 15 stocks in my portfolio…now I have Tesla, Square and Apple. Made more money investing on these 3 companies in 2020! Thank you for your insights!
Btw just chanced on this site and find it amazing/impressive u read all comments
Hey chicken little, very insightful. How about value investing in reits/commodities (real assets with intrinsict value) — does value investing make more sense here?
Hey Ken can you talk about Palantir’s IPO? Seems pretty interesting, could be a monopoly with their government contracts.
If one invested into Nasdaq in 2000s bubble, it took ~5 years for the valuations to come back. So it is true that for example Zoom is popular and brings value, but it may also mean that we are already at the price peak and it could take years for the company to grow into the current valuation.
