You lied to the AI, told it it was in 2023, and told it the current situation. Now test whether its investments would have paid off if started on January 1, 2023 like you told it.
So you gave it a future scenario and then tested it against the past relative to that future scenario.
I wonder if you could ask it what sort of modern information it would need, if for example you wasn't sure what to give (like all the modern context you gave without being asked)

I feel like we are doing this a little wrong. You told it that it time travelled and gave it current information about today's economy, so it's making investing decisions off of the data you provided plus a little stuff that it already knew. But you're showing as if it was bought back in 2021, the bot doesn't know that it needs to time travel back and invest because you didn't tell it. So the comparison from 2021 to today's price doesn't work.
I worked for years for Prudential, so I'm quite familiar with the financial world. I also worked in marketing, You video is very spot on in proving the old adage "past performance does not guarantee future results" and how hard trends are to precisely nail. On the flip side, I agree completely that Chat GPT is excellent at bounding creative ideas off of.
I of course completely agree with you on broad market index funds (preferably target date).
