  1. Investing in comics is so complicated…I started a few days ago when I saw how much the first print of Invincible and The boys are going for nowadays…and set my mind on investing in some Black Hammer keys…I mean as far as I can tell it was a safe investment, the story is amazing and there are recent rumours of TV showmovie…

What I didn't know was the obsession that the comic book community have with high grades in comics…and now I'm this rabbit hole of watching videos about investments and gradding…and I'm already kinda tired of the experience lol

Don't know what to do with the books, if I send them for gradding…or if they will survive in a good enough grade in my box of comics until the movieTV show is announced…

  2. Regie I don't know if this gets said enough but thank you for always providing concise and data-backed content around the comic book space, and for also always being quite clear when speaking about spec and such.

  3. Great info Regie, and love your channel! Quick questions for you: I've been a collector since the 70's, and have been thinking about downgrading my collections. I have solid runs on both FF (from#125-416, non-stop) and X-Men, including GSXM #1.) Now that Marvel has control over both parties, is this a good time to look into selling some of these off to dealers or to those who still collect, but have been looking for certain issues for years?

  4. Sound advice. First appearance of a liked and popular character is always key. On speculation, I just like to buy raw and if the character ends up blowing up in popularity down the road then I lucked out, if not then not a big loss since it was only a raw.

  5. Not sure Superman 1 should be on that list lol. No idea where there are "deals to be had" with that holy grail! The others sure though. I personally think FF1 and X-Men 1 are the way to go.

  6. It seems a lot of the last few years of first appearances are marketed to just sell the comic without necessarily a commitment to the character. But this has always really been the case – Marvel and DC throw the characters out there and whatever sticks they run with.

  7. Very sound advice. The vast majority of collectors are also investors. I got into the hobby because I loved a good story. As my collection grew it was fun to watch the value of it grow as well. Now the value change is fun to track and is a very important part of the hobby for me.

  8. buy gold and silver … always the way to go. easy to sell them fairly quickly if necessary. ever try to sell modern and get fair market value? It is not easy.

  9. I agree with the economy. If you buy at a big drop, you can't lose even if it goes lower because solid books always go back. As far as cheap goes Mutants 98 comes to mind

  10. Fantastic recommendations! Not really an additional thought because you did talk about identifying newer books that maybe fly under the radar and are cheaper, but in that category – comics of historical or literary merit. I'm thinking Maus, Watchmen, and "firsts" of writers/artists. . .comics that are recognized outside of the comic book hobby. These books may gain more attention in the future, particularly because they may have crossover appeal to book collectors and general pop culture/historical item collectors.
